The Elephant in the Room

So when we decided to take the leap of faith and started telling friends that we were going back on the road, they sort of stared at us like deer in the headlights and you could tell by the looks on their faces that they were wondering "What the hell are they thinking of". All the precautions have been taken. We've been double vaccinated, purchased additional COVID medical insurance, taken a COVID test 72 hours prior to departure (negative result thankfully), booked a flight with less than a 50% load factor and rented a car to stay in our own little bubble. We will be wearing masks, get quick tests before checking into any new hotel, registered with the Portugal Health Services so they can track us despite the country being 87% double vaxed. Then we have booked a river boat tour on the Douro river where everyone has to be double vaccinated, uploaded the arriveCan app for our return trip and yet another (hopefully negative) test before we come home. What more can we do? Life must go on. Wish us luck. VIAGENS FELIZES!!

  2. Elephant's in Portugal ? Hmmm.. Then I read your missive. Your background porcelain wall is certainly a propos. Those tiles lined the street of Ponta Delgada. You should try to make it over to Azores just for a day or 2. The Hyacinths may still be in bloom !
